About Dorit

Hi, I'm Dorit

I help parents know where to look when they don’t know what to do.

For nearly 20 years, I’ve worked alongside parents through some of the moments that can leave them questioning themselves most — from a baby who won’t sleep to the everyday parenting moments when it’s hard to know what's needed or what to do next.

Over the years, my work expanded beyond sleep into something broader: Parent Leadership — helping parents look beneath what’s happening, recognize what needs care, and make intentional decisions they can stand behind.

Today, whether I’m helping a family with sleep or guiding parents through the challenges of everyday family life, my goal is the same: not to tell you what to do, but to help you develop a reliable way to figure that out for yourself.

Why this matters so much to me

I think my belief in this started long before I ever became a parent.

I lost my mother when I was 12. And looking back, I think that experience shaped something fundamental in me. I learned very young to turn inward and rely on myself — not because I believed I had all the answers, but because I somehow understood that ultimately, I had to find my own way.

That has never meant doing things alone. Throughout my life, I have read, studied, asked questions, sought professional guidance, and leaned on people I trust. I want good information. I want other perspectives. I want to keep learning.

But I don't stop there.

I take what I've learned and bring it back to myself. Does this align with my values? Does it make sense for me, for my children, and for the needs of our family?

Over the years, that way of navigating has been shaped by raising my own four children, nearly two decades of working closely with families, continued study and professional learning, and the development of The GPS Within with my partner, Rivka Klein.

Through all of that, what began as something deeply personal has grown into something I can now teach: a framework for looking beneath what is happening, recognizing what needs care, and navigating family relationships with greater clarity, intention, and connection.

And I've watched what happens when parents begin to see their families through this lens. Often, the situation itself hasn't changed yet — but the way they understand it has. And from that different understanding, they begin to respond differently. They become steadier. Their decisions become clearer. And over time, what is happening in the relationship — and in the home — begins to change too.

That's why this work matters so much to me. I don't want to give parents another set of answers to follow. I want to teach them a way of seeing and navigating that they can continue to use long after our work together ends.

Another part of what shapes my work...

The GPS Within

My work with parents is also deeply informed by The GPS Within, a relational, needs-based coaching framework I co-created with Rivka Klein, rooted in our fundamental human need for connection, belonging, and safety.

At the heart of the framework is learning how to stay connected to ourselves while also creating safety and connection with others — rather than sacrificing our own feelings, needs, or authenticity in order to preserve the relationship.

Although The GPS Within extends far beyond parenting, its principles are deeply woven into my work with families: understanding what is happening beneath the surface, recognizing what needs care, and finding a way forward that considers both the individual and the relationship.
